In 2015, Kylie released her first Christmas album, entitled Kylie Christmas. The album was recorded over the last half of 2015, and included 16 songs, six of which were original songs. This album was re-issued in November 2016, under the subtitle Snow Queen Edition, containing a further six songs, one of which being "Christmas Lights", appearing as the penultimate song of the album.
In support of Kylie Christmas, Kylie performed a show in the Royal Albert Hall; this concert series was continued with a further two shows in 2016, altering the set order to feature songs from the Snow Queen Edition; "Christmas Lights" was featured in the fourth act following a performance of "Spinning Around".
