Following the conclusion of her Summer 2015 tour, Kylie went into the studio for the latter half of the year to record for her first full-length holiday album Kylie Christmas, released in November 2015.

The song was written by Kylie, Karen Poole and Matt Prime, whilst production for the song was handled by the latter. The song runs for three minutes and forty four seconds. It is written in the key of E major, and set at a tempo of 102 beats per minute.
Release[]
"Cried Out Christmas" was released initially as the third of three bonus tracks on the standard edition of Kylie Christmas; following the addition of six songs and a re-jig of the track listing for the Snow Queen Edition, "Cried Out Christmas" appeared as the twentieth song on the album.
Lyrics[]
It's been a year anticipated
I'm under the covers
Don't leave me waiting
It will be a cried out Christmas without you
You're in the East End
And I'm here in Chelsea
The minute you get here
Is the minute you melt me
I don't want a cried out Christmas without you
Tomorrow's a special day
Tell me you're on your way
Ciity's coverd in lights
But 'til you're here tonight I'll be blue
I want you kissing me
While it's still Christmas Eve
We must know
You know what you gotta do
Get in a cab, I just take the blue light
It's only twelve stops, just get it by
Don't let it be a cried out Christmas without you
I don't want Christmas without you
Tomorrow's a special day
Tell me you're on your way
City's covered in lights
But 'til you're here tonight I'll be blue
I want you kissing me
While it's still Christmas Eve
We must know
You know what you gotta do
Come home to me (Come home)
Make it romantic (Oh, yeah)
Without cookies for Santa
Just how we planned it
It will be a cried out Christmas without you
I don't want a cried out Christmas without you
