Prior to the release of the single, Kylie announced that she would be releasing a charity single; fans were given the option to bid on one note in the song on an auctioning website, and once all notes were sold, Kylie released the song. The money made from the auctions went towards the 'One Note Against Cancer' campaign.

In the United Kingdom, "Crystallize" debuted and peaked at number 60 selling 3,278 copies, but fell out of the top 100 the following week. The song managed to chart within the Top 40 in Flanders and Wallonia. In Spain, the song managed to chart inside the top 50 charting at number 44. In Ireland and France, however, the song was less successful charting at number 88 and 139 respectively.
Kylie has only performed the song a handful of times, albeit acapella. In several shows during the Kiss Me Once Tour, Kylie performed a snippet of the song acapella as a fan request.
