"Dancing Queen" is a song originally by Swedish group ABBA. In 1998, Kylie Minogue performed the song during her Intimate and Live tour and subsequently released it as a promotional single from the live album of the tour. It was released in 1999 by Mushroom records, as an edited live version, as well as featuring the live version of "Cowboy Style" from the live album.
Kylie first performed "Dancing Queen" during the Intimate and Live tour in 1998, which was launched to promote Impossible Princess (1997); Kylie had wanted to include the song as a nod to her gay audience for their support throughout her career. She then performed the song at the closing ceremony for the 2000 Summer Olympics in the same outfit she wore for the Intimate and Live tour.
The song was then considered for, and originally part of the set list for Kylie's Showgirl tour, as it was the song that gave birth to Kylie's showgirl persona, but it was ultimately discarded.
