"Just Imagine" is a song by Kylie Minogue, taken from deluxe edition of her sixteenth studio album Tension (2023).
Background and writing[]
"Just Imagine" was written by Karen Poole, alongside its producer Carl Ryden; it is one of the few songs on Tension that Kylie didn't co-write. "Just Imagine" written in 2007, and was originally offered to Kylie during the sessions for her tenth studio album X; the song was scrapped from the project somewhere along the way, and remained in an archive of unreleased music for years. Kylie has only worked with Karen Poole a handful of times since X, including "Fine", appearing on Kiss Me Once (2014), and three tracks appearing on Kylie Christmas (2015).
When Kylie had initially drawn out plans for the album Tension, "Just Imagine" was considered and made it on the deluxe version as it brought a nostalgic feel to the album without it being too much in line, sonically, with the rest of the other songs for it to be on the standard edition.
Lyrics[]
It's like a missing piece somewhere out there in the open
Like a diamond rolling deep in the ocean
When you get it, just imagine
It's like a dream I had and you're standin' right here now
Mouth is all numb, cannot even speak now
If you knew, just imagine
I can feel it comin'
Oh, my heart beats out of my hands
Don't know what it is, but, oh
Just imagine
All these words I'm thinkin'
And I know that you understand
What if we could say 'em all?
Just imagine
Don't know the truth, but I wouldn't wanna trust it
You feel it too, that's the only way to judge it
Feel my love, just imagine
Maybe it's spiritual, damn sure evermore
Whatever it is, yeah, I like it
You and I, just imagine
I can feel it comin'
Oh, my heart beats out of my hands
Don't know what it is, but, oh
Just imagine
All these words I'm thinkin'
And I know that you understand
What if we could say 'em all?
Just imagine
I-i-imagine
I-i-imagine
I-i-imagine (Oh)
Just imagine
