"Like a Drug " is a song by Kylie Minogue from her tenth studio album X (2007). The song was written by Mich Hedin Hansen, Jonas Jeberg, Engelina Andrina and Adam Powers, while production was handled by Cutfather and Jeberg. "Like a Drug" has been noted for its similarities to The Human League's "Being Boiled", a song later incorporated into a performance of 2003 single "Slow" on Kylie's Golden Tour.
"Like a Drug" received mixed to positive reviews from critics, with Christopher Smith from Talk About Pop Music stating that the "beat, crackle and sizzle" of the song was "sublime" and "familiar territory", in comparison to the glam-rock style of "2 Hearts", and begins X properly. It has also been said that "Like a Drug" "grinds and stomps with razor precision".
"Like a Drug" was noted, alongside "The One", as a clear example of "calculating electro-pop music" that was identified on X.
Written in the key of Gb Major, the song runs for three minutes and seventeen seconds, at 117 beats per minute. The song has frequently been likened to The Human League's "Being Boiled" and Visage's "Fade To Grey" due to its chord progression in the chorus.
"Like a Drug" was first performed on opening night of the KylieX2008 tour, which was launched in support of X; it was featured in the 'Xposed' section, which saw Kylie emerge in red, as an "erotic bellboy" atop a giant silver skull. Throughout the tour, this performance was altered due to space restrictions. This red outfit was recoloured to white for inclusion on For You, For Me in 2009, which Kylie's first tour in North America; "Like a Drug" opened the third section of the show.
