"Love Takes Over Me" is a song by Kylie Minogue, recorded during the sessions for her sixth studio album Impossible Princess (1997). Though the song did not make it onto the final track listing for the album, it appeared on the special edition bonus disc in May 2003. It also appeared as the B-side to the singles "Some Kind of Bliss" and "Cowboy Style", released as the first and fourth singles from Impossible Princess respectively.

The song has also appeared on various other releases.

Background and composition[]

"Love Takes Over Me" was written by Kylie, Steve Anderson and Dave Seaman, with production handled by Brothers in Rhythm; the song was written and recorded during the sessions for Impossible Princess, but did not make it onto the final track listing for the album

The song has a running time of four minutes and nineteen seconds, shortened to four minutes and nine seconds for the single edit, as is set at a tempo of 75 beats per minute in the key of D minor.

Release[]

Written during the time when Impossible Princess was to be a Brothers in Rhythm only project, "Love Takes Over Me" was one of thirteen songs to be included on the album, due for release in January 1997; however, DeConstruction felt that the material wasn't commercial enough, so the sessions were extended. "Love Takes Over Me" was ultimately not included on the final track listing for Impossible Princess, but was instead released as the B-side to lead single "Some Kind of Bliss", appearing on the 7" vinyl, and later the B-side to Australia-only single "Cowboy Style".

Impossible Princess was re-issued with a bonus disc in 2003, featuring rare tracks and remixes. "Love Takes Over Me" was included as one of the three tracks, alongside "Tears" and "This Girl".

To coincide with the release of Impossible Princess in Australia, a six-track EP, entitled Live and Other Sides was to be handed out with the album. "Love Takes Over Me" was to be one of three studio tracks to be included on this EP, but Kylie was not satisfied with the quality of the three live tracks on it, so it was pulled after a short time; it was replaced by a three-track EP, this time entitled Other Sides, where "Love Takes Over Me" appeared alongside "Tears" and "Take Me With You".

Lyrics[]

I am lost in the world of you
Can't believe where you take me to
As soon as you enter my mind
Or you crawl over my skin
Leave me no other choice but to let you in

Love takes over me (I can feel it)
Because, your love takes over me (I can see it)
Oh, your love takes over me (I can taste it)
Yeah, your love takes over me (I can be it)

Take me now, I can't take no more
Feel me breathe, feel the energy
How did I fall prey to this?
Pleasure is my lonely guide
Yeah, I escaped despite of you
Now that you're inside

Love takes over me (I can feel it)
When your love takes over me (I can see it)
Oh, your love takes over me (I can taste it)
Yeah, your love takes over me (I can be it)

Magic is running through my veins
Pleasure is coming closer then
So, hurt with me now
So I won't hurt no more
Hear me scream, hear my suffering

When your love takes over me (I can feel it)
When your love takes over me (I can see it)
Oh, your love takes over me (I can taste it)
Your love takes over me (I can be it)
(I can feel it) Love takes over me
(I can see it) Love takes over me
(I can taste it) Love takes over me
(I can be it)
