"Million Miles" is a song by Kylie Minogue from her twelfth studio album Kiss Me Once (2014). It was released as the second single in Spain, instead of "I Was Gonna Cancel" which was released as the second single from the album in other places.
Background and composition
"Million Miles" was written by Chelcee Grimes, Daniel Davidsen, Peter Wallevik and Mich Hansen, while production was handled bu Davidsen, Wallevik and Cutfather. Grimes, from Liverpool, was in Copenhagen working with Cutfather, who told her that Kylie was looking for some songs for the then-upcoming Kiss Me Once; Cutfather had built an instrumental for Kylie's sound and played the track to Grimes, who stated that the lyrics and top line just came to her:
|“||It made sense because it was the first time I’d been away from my family and I just sang ‘I feel like I’m a million, million, milion, feel like I’m a million miles away ...’ And that was the hook. I could have chosen any subject, they just played me the track they’d built for her sound and asked for lyrics and a top line, but that was what came to me.||”|
The track was completed an hour later, and was sent to Kylie, who loved it; it appeared as the second song on the album.
"Million Miles" runs for three minutes and twenty eight seconds, and is set at a tempo of 138 beats per minute, in the key of Db minor. The song has been likened to 2010 single "Get Outta My Way".
In the UK and Australia, "I Was Gonna Cancel" was released as the second single from Kiss Me Once, but "Million Miles" was released as a promotional single in Spain as the second offering from the album.
Though "Million Miles" was not included on the main set list for the Kiss Me Once Tour, Kylie did perform an acapella snippet of the song at both Spanish shows, after an audience request.
