"Tears" is a song by Kylie Minogue, recorded during the sessions for her sixth studio album Impossible Princess (1997). The song was not included on the final track listing of the album, but was instead released as a bonus track on the Japanese edition of the album, and later on the 2003 special edition. More commercially, the song was released as the B-side to "Did It Again", which was released as the second single from Impossible Princess in November 1997.
Background and composition
"Tears" was written and recorded in 1997 during the sessions for Kylie's sixth studio album Impossible Princess; it was co-written by Kylie, Dave Vall and Ingo Vauk, whilst production was handled by the latter two. "Tears" was one of the songs that came about when recording sessions were extended for the album.
"Tears" has a running time of four minutes and twenty six seconds, and is set at a tempo of 139 beats per minute, in the key of A major.
"Tears" did not make it onto the main album track listing for Impossible Princess, but was instead released as a bonus track on the Japanese edition of the album in October 1997. The song was also included on the Special Edition bonus disc of the album, which was released in 2003.
"Tears" also appeared as the B-side to "Did It Again", released in November 1997 as the second single from Impossible Princess.
Kylie performed "Tears" acapella as a request at one of the Sydney shows on her Aphrodite: Les Folies Tour in 2011.
