Kylie Wiki

The Tension Tour is the sixteenth headlining tour by Kylie Minogue. It was launched in support of her sixteenth and seventeenth studio albums Tension (2023) and Tension II (2024). It began on 15 February 2025 in Perth and concluded in Monterrey, Mexico on 26 August 2025. The tour was first announced on 19 September 2024, consisting of dates in Australia, Asia and the UK.

Background[]

The Tension Tour will be Kylie's first arena tour since 2018's Golden Tour, launched in support of her fourteenth studio album Golden (2018). In 2020, following the COVID-19 pandemic, Kylie released Disco; there was much discussion around this as to whether she'd take the album on the road and the logistics of it, with Kylie often moo stating she wanted to do the show in-the-round. Despite her frequently expressed desire to give Disco a show of its own, nothing came to fruition; instead of this, she livestreamed a special concert, Infinite Disco, featutring songs from Disco, as well as others from her discography. Tension was released in September 2023, after the lead single "Padam Padam", which was a sleeper hit, and its follow-up "Tension". Kylie began discussions of touring, frequently stating that she'd love to go on tour but was still finalising dates.

During promotion of Tension, Kylie teased the possibility of a tour in the United States; during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, she teased a tour or Las Vegas residency were "very possible" at the time. Fifteen days later, More Than Just a Residency was announced. Serving as the inaugural residency at the Voltaire at The Venetian Las Vegas, the show ran from November 2023 to May 2024. Following the initially announced 10 shows selling out and continued high demand, an additional 10 dates spanning to May 2024 were announced in August 2023. The residency was both critically and commercially successful.

During a February 2024 appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Kylie announced plans for a tour in the United States was in-the-works, revealing: "I haven't got the dates yet but we're working on it." On 19 September 2024, Kylie announced the Tension Tour dates in Asia, Australia and the UK. In connection to the tour announcement, she revealed Tension II, a sequel to 2023's Tension, would release on 18 October of the same year. In a statement concerning the tour's announcement, she stated: "I am beyond excited to announce the 'Tension Tour 2025'. I can't wait to share beautiful and wild moments with fans all over the world, celebrating the Tension era and more! It's been an exhilarating ride so far and now, get ready for your close up because I will be calling Lights, Camera, Action... and there will be a whole lot of Padaming!" Additional Australian shows were announced on 25 September. The following day, two additional concerts in Manchester and London were announced, respectively.

On 30 September, during an appearance on Capital FM's Capital Breakfast, additional dates in London, Birmingham and Glasgow were announced, billed as the final shows to be held in the United Kingdom. On 3 October 2024, concerts in North America were announced, marking Kylie's first tour to visit the region since 2011's Aphrodite: Les Folies Tour. On 7 October, Kylie announced two concerts in France during an appearance on Quotidien, with more dates in Europe added the following day. An additional concert at Madison Square Garden was announced on 9 October, due to demand. Two days later, Kylie announced that Rita Ora and Romy would be support acts for her North American shows. Venues for the Asian dates were announced on 22 October 2024. Two days later, Kylie announced eight Latin American shows. On 23 December 2024, the 17 March 2025 concert in the Philippines was cancelled. On 11 June 2025, the 9 August show in Uruguay was cancelled, with the venue citing "logistical issues"; a new date in Monticello, Chile was announced the following day for 9 August.

As part of the tour, Kylie will perform at the Jazzopen festival in Stuttgart, the Tinderbox Festival in Odense, Denmark, Bilbao BBK Live and Icónica Santalucía in Bilbao and Seville, Spain, respectively, and the Release Athens Festival in Athens, Greece.

Production[]

During an appearance on Nova FM's Ricki-Lee, Tim & Joel podcast, Kylie revealed the set list would chronicle the releases of Disco (2020), Tension (2023) and Tension II (2024), as well as "some of the old hits" and what she described as a 1990's "trip house" experimental-sounding concept, citing projects she'd done before and had "veered away from". She cited the Brothers in Rhythm remix of "Confide in Me" as inspiration. In interviews with Audacy and Papelpop, she cited her desired intent to perform songs, such as "The Loco-Motion", "Can't Get You Out of My Head", "Slow" and "All the Lovers", as well as teased "In My Arms" would be performed "for sure" in Brazil.

Concert synopsis[]

The show begins with a laser show, with Kylie's lips appearing on the screens saying "it's about to go off". Following this, Kylie is heard talking about breaking the tension, before she appears suspended above the stage encased in a laser diamond. From here, she sings an abridged version of "Lights Camera Action" as she is lowered to the stage. This leads into a medley of "In Your Eyes" and "Get Outta My Way", as performed on More Than Just a Residency. Following this is a performance of "What Do I Have to Do". Kylie is then illuminated as she begins a performance of "Come into My World"; this begins as a variation of The Abbey Road Sessions version of the song, before launching into a version akin to the For You, For Me performance of the song for its second verse. Kylie addresses the audience before performing "Good as Gone", leading into a mix of "Spinning Around". The first act ends with a reprise of "Spinning Around" as Kylie is taken beneath the stage.

Act II begins with a shortened performance of "On a Night Like This", featuring excerpts of "Taboo" in its intro. Here, the band risers are pushed towards a staircase placed centre stage. Following this, Kylie performed "last night i dreamt i fell in love" and "Better the Devil You Know". A shortened version of "Shocked" is performed next; on opening night, this was followed by a performance of "I Believe in You", but the song was dropped from the set. Kylie then addressed the audience again before performing "Things We Do for Love" with her backing vocalists. She then addressed the audience again before performing "The Loco-Motion". For its reprise, she made her way to the B-stage by walking through the audience.

For the next section, Kylie sang "Hold On to Now", before performing an acapella snippet of "Where the Wild Roses Grow". Following this, she briefly took requests from the audience before performing an acoustic rendition of "Say Something". Next, she performed a medley of songs from her album Disco, beginning with "Supernova". This was followed by "Real Groove", making her way back to the main stage, and "Monday Blues"; this was replaced by "Magic" after two shows. The Disco medley ended with "Where Does the DJ Go?", which interpolated "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life".

The fourth section begins with Kylie appearing on the screens in a hotel room. She then emerged in a cape to perform "Confide in Me", before performing "Slow". This performance ended with an uptempo remix of the song and an outfit reveal, where Kylie walked down the catwalk, flanked by two dancers. Following this, Kylie performed a shortened version of "Timebomb", before ending the section with a performance of "Edge of Saturday Night".

The penultimate section of the show begins with multiple Kylies appearing on the screen, dressed in a white sleeveless shirt and black suit trousers, leading into a performance of "Tension"; this originally was used in the encore. Following this is a performance of "Can't Get You Out of My Head", before she closed the main portion of the show with "All the Lovers"

For the encore, the stage was bathed in red light, with the dancers emerged from a hole in the stage as Kylie spoke over an instrumental intro; this led into a performance of "Padam Padam", where Kylie was raised on a platform above the stage sporting a pair of sunglasses. This performance originally began the previous act, but did not feature any voice over from Kylie. The show ends with a performance of "Love at First Sight"
