The album was recorded during the Tension Tour, which took place from February to August of 2025, and was announced for release on 27 August of that year, the day after the final show of the tour. The album is set to be released digitally on 26 September 2025, with a vinyl issuing to follow, and was preceded by the release of "Tension (Live from the Tension Tour)", released on the day the album was announced.

The Tension Tour was announced in September, supporting the releases of Kylie's sixteenth and seventeenth studio albums Tension (2023) and Tension II (2024). The tour was announced in September 2024 conjunction with the announcement of Tension II, comprising 66 dates across the world. Following the final show of the tour in Monterrey, "Tension (Live from the Tension Tour)" was released to streaming, with the announcement of the live album coming later the same day.
